About The Position

North Central Surgical Center is a surgical-focused hospital in Dallas, Texas, affiliated with Baylor Scott & White and managed by United Surgical Partners International. The Patient Financial Advocate supports the hospital by communicating with patients and insurance companies, helping patients understand and meet their financial obligations, and maintaining accurate patient account information. The role verifies benefits and patient details, estimates financial responsibility, arranges payments, and ensures required documentation and procedures are completed.

Responsibilities

Communicate with patients and insurance companies by phone.
Document and report payment information appropriately.
Educate patients about payment options and financial assistance.
Negotiate and develop strategies for patient payment arrangements.
Update patient accounts and balances.
Verify benefits, calculate quotes, and communicate them to patients.
Obtain payments and follow hospital procedures for segregation of duties and protection of assets, including patient payments.
Contact insurance carriers for each patient to ensure coordination of benefits.
Break down managed care contract reimbursements and estimate patients’ financial responsibilities.
Mail financial letters.
Calculate appropriate payment plans and work with patients to establish them.
Verify patient information, including procedure details, amounts due, and other relevant information.
Ensure all necessary paperwork is entered into the system.
Inform patients of their financial obligations before the date of surgery.
Set priorities and organize work.
