About The Position

The Patient Companion Virtual Care role is part of the Sitters Department at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. This position involves utilizing technology for virtual patient observation and interventions to ensure safe patient care. The role requires demonstrating competency in setting up and using virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices. The Patient Companion will collaborate with hospital unit nursing staff to optimize camera visibility for patients and conduct positive patient identification. Key responsibilities include ensuring alarms are activated with appropriate settings and audibility, maintaining continuous visual observation of multiple patients on a monitor, and ensuring a co-worker monitors assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations. The role also involves redirecting patients promptly to maintain safety. Requirements

H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
1 Year Experience in an patient care setting/role such as Nurse Aide's, Patient Care Tech, Monitor Tech, or other nursing support role. is required
Basic computer skills, data entry required.
Job requires sitting for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency in the set-up and ongoing use of virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices.
Collaborates with hospital unit nursing staff to set up camera to optimize patient visibility and conduct positive patient identification.
Assures alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible.
Maintains continuous visual observation of multiple patients at one time on a monitor; assures a co-worker is monitoring assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations when unable to maintain continuous observation (e.g., when engaged in two-way video call).
Redirects patients promptly to maintain patient safety.
