The Patient Companion Virtual Care role is part of the Sitters Department at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. This position involves utilizing technology for virtual patient observation and interventions to ensure safe patient care. The role requires demonstrating competency in setting up and using virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and communication devices. The Patient Companion will collaborate with hospital unit nursing staff to optimize camera visibility for patients and conduct positive patient identification. Key responsibilities include ensuring alarms are activated with appropriate settings and audibility, maintaining continuous visual observation of multiple patients on a monitor, and ensuring a co-worker monitors assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations. The role also involves redirecting patients promptly to maintain safety.
