About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works on the Med Surg unit at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Under the direction of a registered nurse and unit manager, the PCT performs CNA and clerical duties and assists with patient care, patient arrivals and discharges, unit reception, and supply and station upkeep.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic certification program, or current enrollment in nursing school.
Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

Perform CNA and clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse and the unit manager.
Assist with patient care tasks, including obtaining vital signs, transporting patients, passing meal trays, providing hygiene care, and answering inquiries within the scope of practice.
Receive patients at the desk, escort them to the appropriate room, provide initial instructions, and alert nursing staff to patient arrivals.
Assist with transporting discharged patients and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
May act as the unit receptionist, assign patients to rooms on the board, and pull and prepare charts.
Order and monitor selected supplies, including office supplies, nutritional supplements, forms, and retrieval charts.
Assist with stocking needed unit supplies and keeping nursing stations clean and organized.
