About The Position

Geisinger is piloting a new model of care, the ACE Nursing Model of Care, on its Advanced Acute Care Units at the Danville campus. This model utilizes Patient Care Technicians to perform duties that do not require a nursing license, offering opportunities for career advancement, autonomy, and greater involvement in patient care. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months

  • Ability to report any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner

  • Ability to transport non-controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit as needed

  • Ability to perform discharge follow up phone calls / coordinate virtual discharge appointment team
  • Ability to support / assist staff with 5 min Drills and/or Quality Rounds - participate in regulatory readiness as needed

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate ADLs (hygiene, toileting, mobility, meals)
  • Collect vital signs & daily weights
  • Conduct Point of Care testing
  • Turn & reposition patients
