Patient Care Technician - Surgical Trauma Transition Unit (PCT)
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) will work in the new 18-bed Surgical Trauma Transition Unit (STTU) at Deaconess Midtown, scheduled to open in early 2027. STTU is a high-acuity unit bridging intensive care and recovery, combining Stepdown, ICU, and Medical-Surgical care. The role supports a diverse population of surgical, trauma, vascular, and complex medical patients during recovery. PCTs provide hands-on, compassionate bedside care and collaborate with nursing, critical care, and other healthcare professionals to promote patient comfort, safety, dignity, and positive outcomes. The position offers opportunities to build patient care skills and gain experience in a high-acuity environment.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with hygiene and mobility.
- Measure vital signs and document care.
- Provide compassionate bedside care that supports patient comfort, safety, dignity, and recovery.
- Collaborate with nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to support positive patient outcomes.
