Patient Care Technician - Med Surg
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assists professional nursing staff in providing safe, compassionate, quality care to patients on the Med/Surg Unit. The PCT helps patients with activities and care needs, documents care accurately in the medical record, and supports patient safety, comfort, and well-being. The PCT follows instructions from physicians and licensed nursing staff in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care. The schedule is 32 hours per week, second shift from 4:00 PM to 4:30 AM, every weekend. Medical coverage is available on the first day of employment; all other benefits become effective on the first of the month following the hire date.
Requirements
- BLS/CPR certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work 32 hours per week on second shift, 4:00 PM–4:30 AM, every weekend.
Nice To Haves
- Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with bathing, feeding, meal trays, bed making, and ambulation.
- Measure and document intake and output, daily weights, and vital signs.
- Accurately document care provided in patients’ medical records.
- Assist patients in ways that promote safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Follow instructions from physicians and licensed nursing staff in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of care.
