About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides patient-related care based on growth and development principles across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. The technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver, assists with patient care, observes and reports changes in condition, and documents care accurately in the medical record. This role is based in the Medical/Surgical Unit-6E-Neuro Stroke at Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a full-time day-shift position consisting of three 12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM. Shift and weekend coverage are self-scheduled, and scheduled workdays may vary. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. Weekend shift differentials are offered, as are evening and night shift differentials where applicable.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of healthcare-setting experience within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Six months of acute care experience.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT) license.

Responsibilities

Provide and collaborate on direct patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver.
Assist with personal care and activities of daily living, take vital signs, monitor intake and output, assist with ambulation, perform interventions, and implement selected portions of the patient care plan as directed by a nurse.
Observe and report changes in patient condition to a licensed caregiver.
Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
Address or direct questions and concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
