About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works in the 32-bed Observation Unit at Deaconess Gateway, supporting patient comfort, safety, and positive outcomes. The unit evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients needing short-term monitoring, with typical stays of 8 to 24 hours. The fast-paced setting provides exposure to a broad range of diagnoses and conditions, collaboration with nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary teams, and opportunities to support care coordination and transitions. The role suits compassionate, adaptable team members who enjoy variety and continuous learning.
Requirements
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within six months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, and linen changes.
- Support patient mobility, repositioning, transfers, and ambulation.
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient observations.
- Accurately record patient information in medical records.
- Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Support coordination of patient care, communication of results, and care transitions.
