About The Position

The Patient Care Technician works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and follows established procedures to perform patient care tasks and procedures necessary to support patients’ care, comfort, and safety. This part-time position is based at Elmhurst Hospital in the Emergency Department and is scheduled for 24 hours per week on the day shift, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Rotating holidays and weekends are required.

Requirements

• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training course, or at least six months of previous patient care experience or equivalent, or completion of one nursing clinical rotation, or successful completion of an EMT-B course.
• Complete the Care Companion Course within six months of hire if required by the department.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork, prioritization, and the ability to receive and follow through on directions.
