Patient Care Technician Orthopedic Bariatric Spine Surgery
About The Position
HonorHealth is hiring a Patient Care Technician for its Medical/Surgical Unit-5D-Bariatric & Spine at Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. This full-time night-shift role works three 12-hour shifts, from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Employees can self-schedule shifts and weekend coverage; scheduled workdays may vary. Weekend and holiday rotations are required, and applicable evening, night, and weekend shift differentials are offered. Under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver, the Patient Care Technician provides patient-related care based on growth and development across the life span of patients served in the unit. The technician assists with direct patient care, observes and reports changes in patient condition, and documents care accurately in the medical record.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of experience in a healthcare setting within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Six months of acute care experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT) license.
Responsibilities
- Provide and collaborate on direct patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver.
- Assist with personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and selected portions of the patient care plan as directed by a nurse.
- Observe and report changes in a patient's condition to a licensed caregiver.
- Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
- Address and/or direct questions or concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
