Patient Care Technician-Orthopedic Spine Medical Telemetry-Evenings
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care on the Orthopedic Spine Medical Telemetry unit at Evanston Hospital. This position assists with routine clinical and personal care, supports implementation of patient-specific care plans, and contributes to the smooth functioning of the patient care unit. The technician is expected to contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote a high-quality patient experience. This is a 32-hour-per-week position scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with rotating weekends. No travel is required.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association is required.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) training course.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical care.
- One year of customer service experience and/or prior nursing assistant experience.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care.
- Assist with vital signs, including manual blood pressure, 12-lead EKGs, bladder ultrasound, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, and sterile specimen collection.
- Assist patients with bathing, bed care, ambulation, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose checks, and feeding.
- Assist with admitting patients to their rooms and preparing patients for discharge.
- Perform other duties delegated by the registered nurse.
- Assist with implementation of patient-specific care plans.
- Participate in activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
- Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote a high-quality patient experience.
