About The Position

Middlesex Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for its South 6 Orthopedics department. Patient Care Technicians provide safe, high-quality care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes assisting patients with activities of daily living, collecting and documenting clinical data, performing direct observation, reinforcing patient education, and helping create a positive environment for patients, families, and staff. The position is 24 hours per week, working night shifts in 12-hour shifts, with an every-third-weekend requirement.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience in a patient care environment, such as experience as a CNA, EMT, Medical Assistant, Nursing Student, or pre-Physician Assistant student.
Accountability, multitasking, organization, and good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Hospital experience.
Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT).

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living, including basic hygiene, toileting, and nutrition.
Collect and document data such as vital signs and blood glucose readings.
Perform direct patient observation.
Reinforce patient education.
Contribute to a positive environment for patients, families, and staff.
Provide patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
