About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves as a caregiver to patients during scheduled work periods, providing patient-centered nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The role is in the Ortho/Neuro department and is scheduled for two 12-hour night shifts per week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with an every-other-weekend and holiday commitment. When needed to provide safe care, the employee may provide one-on-one care to patients.

Requirements

Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, be listed on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry after completing training and competency validation or within a maximum of four months from initial employment.
Strong communication, customer service, multitasking, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment or supplies.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Responsibilities

Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
Administer basic health care and medical treatments.
Assist patients with daily living activities, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs, and laundry.
Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients.
Prepare patient treatment areas for use.
Prepare and clean medical equipment.
Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
Provide one-on-one care to patients when necessary for safe care.
