About The Position

Patient Care Technicians support the delivery of high-quality patient care at Union Health. The position is associated with 2 West B & C at Union Hospital, an observation unit serving patients who typically need short-term hospital stays of under 48 hours for cardiac, stroke, and other medical concerns. The team focuses on expert assessments, prompt interventions, safe transitions of care, and compassionate service to the Wabash Valley communities.

The technician collaborates with registered nurses to assess patient needs, assist with care plans, perform medical tasks, provide patient education, and advocate for patients while respecting their rights and confidentiality. Candidates must have a valid Indiana CNA license or agree to complete Union Health’s PCT Training program upon hire, and must be certified in healthcare provider BLS upon hire.

Requirements

• Basic medical knowledge and patient care procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Valid Indiana CNA license, or agreement to complete the Union Health PCT Training program upon hire.
• Healthcare provider BLS certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with RN staff to assess patients’ needs and report concerns.
• Assist in developing and modifying care plans, prioritize patient problems, and perform medical tasks.
• Provide patient education, follow policies, respond to emergencies, and act as a patient advocate while respecting patient rights and confidentiality.
• Evaluate interventions, maintain professionalism, and seek assistance when needed.
