About The Position
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician Unit Secretary performs patient care tasks and procedures to ensure the comfort and safety of patients. In the NICU setting, this role also involves preparing and delivering infant feedings under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian. The position requires attending in-depth orientation for patient care skills and NICU-specific tasks, including food handling.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current BLS CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Certificate from an accredited nursing assistant training course (CNA); or minimum six months previous patient care experience or equivalent; or completion of one nursing clinical rotation.
- Attends patient care skills tasks related to preparing and delivering infant feedings.
- Strong math skills for preparing and delivering infant feedings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Attend in-depth orientation regarding patient care skills tasks.
- Current Food Handler Course Certificate of Completion.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient care tasks and procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Receives, prepares, and delivers infant feedings under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian.
- Floats to other women and children's units as a sitter.
