About The Position
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and according to established procedures, performs patient care tasks and patient care procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of the patient. The Patient Care Tech/Unit Secretary position in the NICU also performs tasks related to receiving, preparing, and delivering infant feedings under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian and according to established procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Current BLS CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Certificate from an accredited nursing assistant training course (CNA); or minimum six months previous patient care experience or equivalent; or completion of one nursing clinical rotation
- Attends in depth orientation regarding patient care skills tasks
- Strong math skills for preparing and delivering infant feedings
- Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions
- Proficient communication skills
- Current Food Handler Course Certificate of Completion
Responsibilities
- Performs patient care tasks and patient care procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patient.
- Performs tasks related to receiving, preparing, and delivering infant feedings under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian and according to established procedures.
- Attends patient care skills tasks related to preparing and delivering infant feedings.
- Floats to other women and children's units as a sitter.
