The Patient Care Technician collaborates with providers at the Hyperbaric Treatment and Wound Care Center (HTC) to facilitate patient care and coordinate treatment activities. This role assists during patient evaluations, prepares medical charts, and readies the chamber for use, ensuring patient comfort and chamber orientation are efficiently managed. The Patient Care Technician also provides education to patients and families and serves as a Care Provider during daily scheduled and emergent treatments. Maintaining credentials and competencies, participating in HTC training, safety drills, monthly meetings, and contributing to the monthly on-call schedule are key aspects of this position. The role begins as a Trainee with a specific training wage and progresses to Patient Care Technician I upon successful completion of the trainee period, which includes specific courses, a hyperbaric physical exam, and an in-chamber pressurization test. There are three levels of Patient Care Technicians (I, II, and III), each with increasing responsibilities and required certifications.
