About The Position

Wilson Health is hiring a direct-hire Patient Care Technician / Operating Room Assistant (PCT/ORA) for its Surgery Department in Sidney, Ohio. The part-time role works first shift from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for 30 hours weekly or 60 hours bi-weekly, and reports to the Charge Nurse / Registered Nurse. The Surgery Department provides safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout the perioperative experience. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with Ohio Board of Nursing guidelines, the PCT/ORA combines direct patient care with operational support. The role supports patients from pediatric through geriatric populations and helps ensure efficient surgical operations through patient care, transportation, room preparation, equipment management, supply maintenance, and endoscopy support. Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of hire.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Ability to safely perform physical activities associated with patient care and transportation.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care support, including positioning, transfers, mobility assistance, comfort measures, obtaining vital signs, and specimen collection.
Transport patients to and from Surgery, Same Day Surgery (SDS), PACU, and inpatient units as needed.
Prepare and maintain operating rooms, patient rooms, and perioperative areas for daily surgical operations.
Clean operating rooms between procedures and at the end of each day in accordance with infection prevention protocols.
Assist surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff with patient positioning, transfers, surgical preparation, and equipment movement.
Clean and process endoscopes according to established cleaning and disinfection standards.
Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning activities and maintain required cleaning logs.
Order, stock, replenish, and maintain department linen, supplies, and equipment.
Maintain sharps containers and ensure supplies are available for routine, weekend, and on-call procedures.
Adapt to changing schedules, patient volumes, staffing needs, and surgical priorities.
Provide professional communication and teamwork in serving patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
Support a culture of safety, quality, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.
