About The Position

The Patient Care Technician Oncology provides patient-related care based on growth and development principles across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. Under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver, the technician assists with patient care, observes and reports changes in patient condition, and maintains accurate medical record documentation. The role is based in the Medical/Surgical Unit-3C-Oncology at Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a full-time day-shift position consisting of three 12-hour shifts, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, with self-scheduling and variable workdays. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. Weekend, evening, and night shift differentials are offered where applicable.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of experience in a healthcare setting within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Nice To Haves

Six months of acute care experience.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT) license.

Responsibilities

Provide and collaborate on direct patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver.
Assist with personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and assigned portions of the patient care plan as directed by a nurse.
Observe and report changes in patient condition to a licensed caregiver.
Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
Address or direct questions and concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or health care team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
