About The Position

The Patient Care Technician provides patient-related care based on growth and development principles across the life span of patients served in the assigned unit. Under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver, the technician assists with care, observes patients, reports changes in condition, and accurately documents care delivered. The role is in the Medical/Surgical Unit-3C-Oncology at Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is a full-time day-shift position working three 12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Self-scheduling is offered, but workdays may vary and there are no set days. Weekend and holiday rotations are required; applicable weekend, evening, and night shift differentials are offered.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of Block 1 in Nursing, or qualification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Nursing Assistant (NA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or six months of healthcare-setting experience within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Weekend and holiday rotations are required.

Nice To Haves

Six months of acute care experience.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT) license.

Responsibilities

Provide and collaborate on direct patient care services under the direct supervision of a licensed caregiver.
Assist with personal care, activities of daily living, vital signs, intake and output, ambulation, interventions, and selected portions of the patient care plan as directed by a nurse.
Observe patients and report changes in their condition to a licensed caregiver.
Maintain accurate medical record documentation related to care delivered.
Address or direct questions and concerns from patients, families, caregivers, or healthcare team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
