Patient Care Technician - Medicine Observation
About The Position
Hartford Hospital is actively hiring Patient Care Technician (PCT) for our Specialty Medical Observation Unit. This role reports to the Unit Manager and performs delegated functions as a member of a patient care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCT provides a variety of services such as activities of daily living, vital signs, EKGs, and glucose checks to meet the health care, safety, and comfort needs of patients. This role operates in a high activity work environment with multiple priorities and requires flexibility in scheduling. The position is in the Medicine Division with no floating outside of this division. Hartford Hospital offers a supportive environment to promote professional and interpersonal development and growth. Requirements
- No experience required, training provided on-site.
- Successful completion of PCT specific HHC orientation.
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED.
- Some relevant experience in an acute care hospital environment.
- Current certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Certification as a CNA, CPCT/A, EMT or CMA to be eligible for advancement in the PCT clinical ladder.
Responsibilities
- Perform delegated functions as a member of a patient care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Provide a variety of services such as activities of daily living, vital signs, EKGs, and glucose checks.
- Contribute to meeting the health care, safety, and comfort needs of patients.
- Adhere to all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
