About The Position
The Patient Care Technician I is responsible for assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and supporting patient mobility. This role also involves performing procedures such as EKGs and phlebotomy, observing and reporting changes in patient condition, and maintaining equipment. The position is per diem with various 12-hour shifts available in the IMCU at Chilton Medical Center.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED
Nice To Haves
- BLS required within 3 months of hire
- Prior acute care experience strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Patient, compassionate nature
- Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians and nurses
- Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
Responsibilities
- Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, dressing
- Obtains and records vital signs, weights, and heights
- Assists patients with mobility: ambulation, transfer, discharges and ROM activities
- Performs postmortem care
- Performs EKG's, phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring
- Observes and reports changes in patients' condition to the RN
- Maintains phlebotomy equipment and inventory
- Other related duties as assigned.
