The Patient Care Tech – Emergency Department-Night position at Highland Park Hospital is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with hours typically falling on the night shift (7pm-7:30am) and including rotating weekends. The role involves normal mental, visual, and auditory attention, with manual dexterity required for sustained periods. The technician must have visual acuity to assess patients and read/record charts, and auditory acuity to communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team, even when masks are worn. There is potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, and other hazardous conditions. The role requires the ability to work under pressure, utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for non-emergency transfers, and assist with lifting up to 50 pounds in urgent situations. Wearing an N95 mask/PAPR and other PPE may be necessary. The position involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift.
