About The Position

The Trinity Health Ann Arbor Emergency Department (ED) provides comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages treating approximately 85,000 patients annually in our 64-bed unit. The ED offers a full range of services, from treating acute conditions to minor injuries and illnesses. The ED offers specialized care to both pediatric and geriatric patients. A dedicated pediatric unit, staffed with pediatricians and pediatric emergency nurses, is open 14 hours a day. Specialized geriatric care and screening is provided to senior patients age 65 years and older in a specially designed geriatric area 16 hours a day.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course
  • Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
  • Assist patient in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation (using assistive devices) and feeding/menu selection.
  • Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures, inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters.
  • Responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
