About The Position

The Patient Care Tech – Emergency Department-Night position at Highland Park Hospital is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with shifts from 7pm to 7:30am, including rotating weekends. The role involves normal mental, visual, and auditory attention, with manual dexterity required for sustained periods. Visual acuity is needed for patient assessment and chart recording, and auditory acuity for communication while wearing masks. Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, chemicals, and hazardous conditions exists. The position requires the ability to work under pressure to meet patient care needs. When in the clinical environment, appropriate patient movement equipment must be utilized for non-emergency transfers. In urgent events, assistance with lifting up to 50 pounds may be necessary. Wearing an N95 mask/PAPR and other PPE is required when applicable. The role involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift.

Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association
  • If BLS certification is not current or does not have certification, required to be obtained within the employee’s introductory period (within 90 days of hire date)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions.
  • Basic Computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred
  • Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Flow of work and character of duties involves normal mental, visual, auditory attention much or all of the time with manual dexterity is required for sustained periods of time.

  • Requires auditory acuity adequate to converse with patients, members of the healthcare team and coworkers who are wearing masks.

  • Able to work under pressure to meet patient care needs.
  • When in the clinical environment, must utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for patient-lifting and transfers when the transfer is a non-emergency situation.
  • In an urgent event, may need to assist with lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • When applicable, wear an N95 mask/PAPR and other PPE.
