About The Position
The Patient Care Tech works under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care in the oncology unit at Evanston Hospital. The role assists with patient-specific care plans, supports daily care and clinical procedures delegated by the RN, and contributes to unit operations, patient safety, and a high-quality patient experience. The position is per diem, with hours listed as Monday through Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., and weekends. No travel is required.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (C.N.A.) training course.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical care.
- One year of customer service experience and/or prior nursing assistant experience.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care.
- Assist with vital signs, including manual blood pressure; 12-lead EKGs; bladder ultrasounds; Foley catheter and IV adapter removal; sterile specimen collection; bathing; making beds; ambulating; turning; hourly rounding; blood glucose checks; and feeding.
- Assist with admitting patients to rooms and preparing patients for discharge.
- Assist with implementation of patient-specific care plans.
- Participate in activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
- Contribute positively to safety outcomes and promote a high-quality patient experience.
- Perform other duties delegated by the registered nurse.
