About The Position
The Patient Care Tech may function as a patient care assistant and/or unit secretary at any given time. The role supports nursing staff and patient care under the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders. It also coordinates clerical activities for the unit and staff in coordination with patients, hospital departments, physicians, and other customers. As unit secretary, the position serves as the focal point of communication on the nursing unit.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a clerical or medical terminology course.
- Completion certificate for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.) course.
- Currently enrolled in an RN degree program and completion of a fundamentals of nursing curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Support nursing staff and patient care under the direction and guidance of licensed staff and leaders.
- Coordinate clerical activities for the unit and staff with patients, hospital departments, physicians, and other customers.
- Serve as the focal point of communication on the nursing unit when functioning as unit secretary.
- Function in a patient care assistant and/or unit secretary role as needed.
