About The Position

The Patient Care Tech provides direct care to adult and geriatric patients under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes supporting patients with hygiene, nutrition and fluids, mobility, vital signs, and blood glucose monitoring, while helping maintain a safe and clean environment. The position is PRN for 8-hour night shifts at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

• Current Nurse Assistant certification by the State of Illinois; documentation of previous Nurse Assistant certification within the past five years; and/or documentation of on-the-job training in a patient-care setting equivalent to nurse assistant training.
• Experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, and/or medical-surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Admit, discharge, and transfer patients and complete the appropriate forms.
• Provide for patients’ hygiene needs.
• Provide for patients’ food and fluid needs.
• Assist patients with mobility.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Maintain a safe environment of care.
• Provide appropriate pressure-ulcer prevention.
• Perform finger-stick blood glucose monitoring under the direction of the RN.
• Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Provide safe, skillful, accurate, efficient, age-appropriate, and population-specific care primarily to adult and geriatric patients.
• Support patients’ rights and responsibilities, including respect for cultural, ethical, and religious diversity.
• Adhere to standard precautions and infection-control standards.
• Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean environment.
