About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) works on the Med-Surg Ortho unit at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is a full-time evening-shift position. Under moderate supervision from nursing and medical staff, the PCT supports patient care by assisting with activities of daily living, observing and reporting patient progress, recording vital signs and measurements, collecting specimens, drawing blood, and helping with patient transport and housekeeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
- Completion of an approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic certification, or current enrollment in nursing school.
- Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
- Observe patients’ progress and prepare and share reports with the Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
- Obtain and record patients’ vital signs and collect specimens for laboratory tests.
- Provide basic patient transport and perform housekeeping duties.
- Measure and record patient intake and output and other measurements according to unit routines.
- Assist patients with range-of-motion activities.
- Draw blood.
