About The Position

The Emergency Room Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an entry-level role providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff. The position performs PCT I duties, including helping patients with daily activities and assisting with observation, reporting, vital signs, specimen collection, patient transport, and housekeeping.

Requirements

• Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or GED.
• One year of experience in acute or long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
• Observe patients’ progress and prepare and share reports with the Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtain and record patients’ vital signs.
• Collect specimens for laboratory tests.
• Provide basic patient transport.
• Perform housekeeping duties.
