PATIENT CARE TECH - OPERATING ROOM
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients in the Operating Room. They assist with essential patient care tasks, including checking vital signs, helping patients with mobility, dressing, and eating, collecting samples, and reporting changes in patient condition to nurses. The PCT may also function as a Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC), assisting with paperwork and administrative tasks to ensure smooth hospital operations and optimal patient care. PCTs are considered essential members of the healthcare team, contributing to patient recovery and well-being.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with interruptions while remaining pleasant.
- Computer proficiency.
- Good organizational skills.
- Effective communication and listening skills.
- One of the following: Completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training; Past 5 years of patient care experience (e.g., taking temperature, bathing, assisting with restroom); Currently in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed.
