About The Position
The Patient Care Technician performs various duties under the supervision of a licensed nurse, helping deliver patient care and meet family needs. The technician follows the care plan while considering the patient's age and developmental stage, and directly supports multiple patients during each shift. Opportunities are available in Med/Surg, Neuro, Telemetry, Observation, and Oncology at Baylor Scott and White Health in Temple, Texas. The schedule is full-time days.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Less than one year of experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or obtain BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Compassion for patients in a physically and emotionally demanding role.
- Clear verbal and written communication with patients and staff.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to work as part of a team with healthcare professionals such as nurses and physicians.
Responsibilities
- Collect and record patient data, including vital signs.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.
- Respond to call lights and conduct regular patient rounds.
- Provide personal hygiene care and assist with patient clean-up.
- Adhere to Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.
- Perform glucose monitoring and collect specimens as requested.
- Directly support multiple patients during each shift.
