The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in Surgical Services performs basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. This role assists operating room staff, including anesthesia providers, with technical aspects of patient care. The PCT monitors and controls the operating room environment, cleans and disinfects the surgical suite and equipment, and disposes of waste and soiled linen. They are responsible for transporting patients, equipment, instruments, specimens, and supplies. The role involves lifting and positioning patients according to practice standards, ensuring patient and personal safety. Additionally, the PCT assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living, reports findings or changes in patient condition to nursing staff, and documents necessary records. They perform technical patient care duties such as oxygen setup, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection, and EKGs, and obtain/record vital signs, weight, and input/output.
