The Patient Care Tech (PCT) on the Medical Surgical/Telemetry 5A department at Texas Health Plano provides assistance to patients according to the plan of care, collects patient data, and reports significant findings to the nurse. This role assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. The PCT performs technical procedures safely and proficiently, takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk, and enters orders into the computer or manual system if applicable. Accurate and appropriate documentation is essential. In collaboration with the nurse, the PCT adapts care to reflect the patient population, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs, and keeps the patient environment clean and safe. The PCT anticipates patient/family and visitor needs, takes action to meet them, and rounds as appropriate.
