About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in the Medical Surgical department at Texas Health Allen provides assistance to patients according to the plan of care. This role involves collecting patient data, identifying and reporting significant findings to the nurse, and assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges. The PCT revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences, performs technical procedures safely and proficiently, and takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk. They are responsible for entering orders into the computer or manual system if applicable, documenting accurately and appropriately, and adapting care to reflect the patient population in collaboration with the nurse. Additionally, the PCT incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into care delivery, keeps the patient environment clean and safe, and anticipates patient/family and visitor needs, rounding as appropriate.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required Or EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Required Or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire Required Or 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
