The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in the Medical Surgical department at Texas Health Allen provides assistance to patients according to the plan of care. This role involves collecting patient data, identifying and reporting significant findings to the nurse, and assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges. The PCT revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences, performs technical procedures safely and proficiently, and takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk. They are responsible for entering orders into the computer or manual system if applicable, documenting accurately and appropriately, and adapting care to reflect the patient population, cultural/religious needs, and beliefs in collaboration with the nurse. The PCT also maintains a clean and safe patient environment, anticipates patient/family and visitor needs, and performs rounding as appropriate. This is a full-time position with day shifts (7A-7P), involving three variable 12-hour shifts per week, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
