About The Position

The professional PCT exhibits understanding of basic human needs. Self-scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth. Will float as needed between Medical Surgical and Surgical Inpatient units. Texas Health Frisco is a 93-bed, acute care hospital that has served the Frisco community and surrounding western Collin County and Denton County areas since 2019. Our hospital provides convenient access to care for patients from Frisco, Little Elm, The Colony, Prosper, McKinney, and nearby communities. We provide specialized services in women's health, outpatient surgery, neonatal intensive care, emergency medicine, heart and vascular care, digestive health, and bariatrics. As a collaboration between Texas Health and UT Southwestern Medical Center, our campus includes a multispecialty clinic that offers access to academic medicine close to home. Texas Health Frisco is an Acute Heart Attack Ready facility. We are also a level III trauma hospital.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent required
  • PCT Training Program
  • TX CNA, NHA, NAHP and NCCT or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Military experience with medical training equivalent to EMT-B
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification
  • Medical/Surgical hospital experience preferred
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually within 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
  • Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
  • Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
  • Provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
  • Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
  • Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
  • In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
  • Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
  • Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
