About The Position

Overlake Medical Center is currently seeking a Patient Care Technician or Nurse Technician for our Post-operative/General Surgical Unit (South 5). Our Postoperative General Surgical Unit is a 36-bed unit for adult and short-stay pediatrics, including vascular and general surgery, GI, GU, bariatric, head and neck, and breast reconstruction. This is a Per Diem/Nights position.

Requirements

  • Nursing Assistant Certification (NA-C) required.
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program or equivalent documented nursing training experience.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification (BLS) required.
  • Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) required post hire (Overlake Hospital will sponsor this licensure upon hire).
  • High school graduate and completion of at least one clinical quarter of documented nursing training required.
  • Maintains requirements to qualify for employment as a Nurse Technician (NT).
  • Must provide documented evidence of current enrollment and satisfactory completion of required clinical quarters in a nursing education program approved by the state board of nursing on commission in the state in which the program is located.
  • Must provide written documentation of current level of education preparation and his/her knowledge and skills.
  • Must remain in good standing with nursing program and provide proof at the end of every term.
  • Registered with the Washington State Nursing Commission as a Nursing Technician is required.
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR Certification also required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • One year recent experience in a health care setting involving patient contact preferred.
  • Computer familiarity is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer familiarity is preferred.
  • Knowledge and handling of hospital equipment, record keeping preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients and their families under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Follows the scope of practice as defined in WAC’s and facility standards.
  • Knowledge and handling of hospital equipment, record keeping.
