About The Position

The Patient Care Support Specialist participates in patient and family care and experience through teamwork, effective communication, and clinical skills under the direction of an RN. The role provides support to ensure patients’ psychiatric and physical care needs are met. This is a per diem/casual, non-exempt position with a varied schedule, eight-hour shifts, variable days, and every other weekend required. The position is listed at 0 weekly hours. The pay range is $25.75 to $32.80 per hour; the range may vary based on the primary work location. Starting pay considers factors including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Eligible positions include a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
Prior experience delivering direct patient care in a psychiatric or mental health facility, typically acquired in one year.
Knowledge of basic nursing aide functions, including assistance with activities of daily living, obtaining vital signs, and documenting observations.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a changing environment under the direction of an RN.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to obtain patients’ vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and document observations.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a nursing assistant certification course.
