About The Position

The ETSU College of Nursing, Office of Practice invites applications for a full-time Patient Care Specialist for the Johnson City Community Health Center. The Patient Care Specialist supports clinical operations in a healthcare setting by assisting nurses with direct patient care. Key responsibilities include administering injections, performing EKGs, collecting specimens, assisting with procedures and examinations, and completing various non-professional nursing and clerical tasks. This role requires a solid understanding of basic nursing principles and practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • RMA, CMA (AAMA certification) or LPN.
  • Current CPR/BLS card required.

Responsibilities

  • Administering injections
  • Performing EKGs
  • Collecting specimens
  • Assisting with procedures and examinations
  • Completing various non-professional nursing and clerical tasks
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems to perform daily clinical and administrative tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, supervisors, and coworkers.
  • Professional telephone communication skills, including coordination with pharmacies, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate patient needs to clinical providers.
  • Committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information responsibly in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of and adherence to university, college, department and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the facility positively at all times.
  • Effective team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to complete assigned duties efficiently.
  • Knowledge of accepted nursing and clinical medical assistant (CMA) standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, basic pharmacology, and the foundational principles of nursing.
  • Basic computer literacy to support clinical operations.
  • Skilled in delivering patient care in alignment with facility standards, protocols, and procedures.
