About The Position

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a part-time Patient Care Specialist for its Med Surg 1 Unit. The Patient Care Specialist assists with patient care activities for which they have been prepared, in accordance with Medical Center policies and procedures. The role functions under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Verbal ability to communicate with patients and understand instructions from nursing staff.
• Manual dexterity to use hands easily and skillfully while aiding patients.
• BLS certification required.
• Must meet at least one of the following: successful completion of a multi-skilled technician program that includes EKG, phlebotomy, and direct patient care, with valid and current certification; successful completion of a Certified Nurse Aide training program with valid and current West Virginia certification, and successful completion of an EKG and phlebotomy program within six months of hire; EKG and phlebotomy training with patient experience in a physician office or clinical setting; or graduation from an approved school of practical nursing and current licensure to practice nursing in West Virginia.
