About The Position

We are seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Patient Care Specialist with required front office experience in a healthcare environment. This role supports daily medical office operations and ensures an exceptional patient experience. Strong communication skills, medical insurance knowledge, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced setting are essential. Candidates must have 1–2 years of healthcare front office experience, medical insurance knowledge, and Spanish fluency. Experience in Gastroenterology or Primary Care is preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1–2 years of front office experience in a healthcare environment (Required)
  • Knowledge of medical insurance
  • Fluent in Spanish (Required)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
  • Experience with Athena or similar EMR/EHR systems
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and time‑management skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and HIPAA compliance

Nice To Haves

  • Gastroenterology or Primary Care office experience
  • Familiarity with multi‑provider scheduling
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Patient registration — Greet, register, and check in patients; ensure accurate demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and document verification results.
  • Collect and process copayments following standard cash‑handling procedures.
  • Answer and route phone calls; schedule and reschedule appointments; maintain provider schedules.
  • Process referrals, medical record requests, and appointment ticklers promptly.
  • Perform administrative tasks including filing, faxing, scanning, and uploading documents into the EHR.
  • Review patient accounts for outstanding balances or documentation issues; collaborate with billing as needed.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and safeguard patient information.
  • Support efficient patient flow across multiple providers and departments.
  • Audit charts and registration data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist the Practice Manager and care team with administrative tasks and operational reports.
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service in all interactions.
