About The Position

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on Cleveland Clinic Main Campus’s 34-bed G91 Pulmonary/Integrated Care Unit, supporting higher-acuity pulmonary step-down patients. The PCNA coordinates with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing environment and provides or assists with patient care under RN supervision. The role offers opportunities for educational advancement, career progression, and skills development courses. The schedule is days, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or obtain it during the new-hire period. Nursing students must have BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross before hire.
• Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an eighth-grade level.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.

Nice To Haves

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA).

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight; assisting with personal care and activities of daily living; patient transfers and transport; pulse oximetry; point-of-care testing; dressing changes; applying external monitoring devices; and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Help keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
