About The Position

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant works on H80, a collaborative acute care unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus that cares for adults with a range of health concerns, including congestive heart failure, diabetes, and other complex medical needs. The role supports patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse and contributes to a patient-centered care environment. This is a part-time day position scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, required within the new-hire period.
• Nursing students must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross before hire.
• Nursing students who have recently completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may use that rotation in place of the required experience.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) is considered.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of moving and lifting patients, including full-body motion, manual finger dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and extensive standing and walking.
• Medium physical work: exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly.

Nice To Haves

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight, assisting with personal care, performing point-of-care testing and dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional conditions to an RN.
• Help keep patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
