Patient Care Nurse Assistant - Med/Surg and Telemetry
About The Position
Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Patient Care Nurse Assistant for Mercy Hospital's 2M Med/Surg & Telemetry Unit in Canton. This unit provides care to diverse populations of surgical and medical/telemetry patients, including those who have undergone hysterectomy, bowel resection, vascular surgery, cosmetic surgery, and mastectomy. The 2M unit fosters respect, collaboration, and support among caregivers, prioritizing open communication. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing, and warm environment for patients. The role involves working day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (must obtain during new hire period if not held)
- Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN
- Assist patients with vital signs, weight, personal care, and activities of daily living
- Assist with patient transfers/transport
- Perform pulse oximetry and point of care testing
- Perform dressing changes
- Apply external monitoring devices
- Remove urinary Foley catheter
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly
