Medina Hospital’s 4 South is a 27-bed Medical/Surgical unit that provides professional nursing care to a diverse group of patients. 4 South patients present with a wide verity of acute and chronic medical conditions, including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis/wound care, COPD exacerbation, kidney stones and bowel obstructions and complications related to various types of cancer. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will assist and provide direct patient care while supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN). This position involves heavy patient contact, including ADLs and ambulation assistance. A PCNA in this role should be familiar with identifying basic changes in patient status and have the ability to be flexible and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Here, you will have the chance to work alongside our nurses and physicians who are eager to teach, welcome new caregivers to the team and help them climb the professional ladder. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
- Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
- Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Nice To Haves
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification
Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
