About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) on the Courtyard East unit at Chelsea Hospital provides direct patient care to Medical-Surgical patients and those with chronic head pain. This 41-bed unit specializes in post-operative surgical care, telemetry, stroke care, chronic pain management, and patient education. Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, lifting greater than 35 pounds using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs.
Assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
Assist patients in completing ADLs including: bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
