Medina Hospital’s 3 South General Medicine Unit is a 32-bed unit specializing in general medical/surgical care and observation for adult and geriatric patients. 3 South delivers care to various other conditions including pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, GI bleed, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, various cancers, kidney stones and bowel obstructions. This unit also cares for patients undergoing hysterectomies, thyroidectomies, colon resections and appendectomies. 3 South has achieved notable success, with numerous caregivers receiving prestigious awards for their outstanding contributions and dedication. Additionally, the team has been recognized for innovating and implementing best practices that enhance patient care and improve overall outcomes. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will assist and provide direct patient care while supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN). This position involves heavy patient contact, including ADLs and ambulation assistance. A PCNA in this role should be familiar with identifying basic changes in patient status and have the ability to be flexible and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
