About The Position

The Patient Care Intern II position is for students currently enrolled in a nursing school or a healthcare related program who have completed at least one clinical or practicum rotation. Provides expanded hands-on experience and a deeper level of involvement in patient care. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Intern II functions as an integral member of the care team, applying foundational clinical knowledge while continuing to build skills, confidence, and professional judgement in a real work healthcare setting.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency.
Currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing program or healthcare related field (with verification of enrollment and status).
One completed clinical or practicum rotation required.
AHA BLS.
Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period
Proficient in English, verbal and written communication.
Excellent problem solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior patient care experience (CNA, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care including bathing, hygiene, toileting, and feeding assist
Obtains and document vital signs, document intake and output, and other patient observations.
Performs phlebotomy, glucometer testing and EKG’s
Recognizes and reports changes in patient condition in a timely manner
Responds to call lights and assist with patient needs.
Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and ambulation using safe patient handing techniques.
Reinforces patient safety practices, including fall prevention and infection control practices
Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
Assists with stocking supplies and unit organization.
Serves as a patient companion or observer when needed
Communicates effectively with patients, families and team members
