About The Position

The Patient Care Intern I position is for students pursuing a career in a healthcare related field. Provides hands on experience in a hospital setting, allowing students to work alongside nurses and the interdisciplinary team while supporting both direct and indirect patient care. Interns will gain valuable exposure to clinical workflows, patient interaction, and day to day operations of a healthcare environment, building a strong foundation for future roles in a health profession.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Health Science program (with verification of enrollment and status).
• AHA Heartsaver AED.
• Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period
• Proficient in English, verbal and written communication.
• Excellent problem solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• No prior healthcare experience required; interest in patient care strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists with basic patient care activities such as bathing, feeding and repositioning.
• Obtains and document vital signs, perform glucometer testing, document intake and output, and other patient observations.
• Supports patient admissions, transfers and discharges
• Responds to call lights and assist with patient needs
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient environment
• Assists with stocking supplies and unit organization
• Serves as a patient companion or observer when needed
• Communicates effectively with patients, families and team members
• Observes clinical care delivery and gain exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration
